What's the word??

So here we are into summer and I've noticed things have been quiet here lately (not that I'm ever that good at posting often) but I thought I'd make a post and see how things are going?

Let's see, I started working PCA hours with my Granny on my "off" days from my main job. It's not to bad, just make sure she eats, takes her meds, showers, has clean laundry, doesn't wander off...etc. I enjoy spending the time with her. Only down side is it's a good 30 miles one way from where I live to her place.

My sister found out she is pregnant mid-May. She's right around 8 weeks now if I recall correctly. She's very excited, as we all are. Still a bit of a shocker. To add to it all, my brother's girlfriend is pregnant as well. We're not sure if it's his or not, so the excitement isn't quite there with that one. He already has a 4 year old daughter. On that note, I've been able to spend a lot of time with my niece the last few months. She's currently in foster care, and we're able to get visits whenever their available. It's been great, I absolutely love it! She really has broken out of her shell since she's been allowed to visit with us. Her mom does not allow us to see her. We're going to attempt to see what we can't do to get joint custody so we can continue seeing her, assuming her mom follows through with what the state has put in front of her and gets her back. If she doesn't it's looking a lot like she may come live with Tim and I, which I think would be wonderful. I adore this little girl!

The animals are doing great. We're down to 20 chinchillas at the moment. It's crazy to think that just a few months back we were near 40. 20 is not nearly as overwhelming as that was. The birds are doing wonderful, Gavin is picking up new words on almost a daily basis. He's picked up a few things that I was hoping he wouldn't, but luckily they are not said around him often, so he rarely says them, they just pop up every so often when he's chattering away. His most recent thing to learn, I've been teaching him the theme song to Indiana Jones

I'm on my way out to my Mom's/Gran's in just a bit to bathe the dog as she got after a skunk last night, then we're heading out to my In Laws for the week. Just to spend the holiday out there, then my Mother in Law is getting married on Saturday. So it should prove to be an exciting week away.

I think thats about all thats happened in my little world. It's been busy between the animals, 2 jobs and just trying to find time to relax. haha.

So How are you? Whats new?

I love Gavin's video! He's so cool.

Your little niece is adorable! I hope things work out well for her and you. My cousin's kids are also in the middle of custody issues. My aunt had temporary custody for a while and we would babysit for her. The kids were here every other weekend. It was great having them around. Now they are back with their mom (for now). She only wants them when its convenient for her though, so my aunt gets them the rest of the time. It's no fun for the kids when they're with their mom and very frustrating for the rest of us.

We're getting ready for a yard sale this weekend. Its a lot of work and we didn't have time to go through any where near as much stuff as we wanted, but we are getting rid of a lot of stuff still and hopefully we can earn a little cash in the process.

At the end of this month my whole family is going to Utah so we can visit my sister, brother in law, niece and family friends. This will be the first time in a very long time that we've all gone on a trip together. I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm also nervous. It will be the first time that none of us have stayed behind to take care of the animals. I'm confident our pet sitter can handle things. I've known our sitter for a very long time and she only lives two houses down. She'll be here at least twice a day and may even spend the night. She's helped watch the animals before, but not for a whole week and a half. I'm nervous about leaving the dogs for that long, especially Lucy, who is 14 this year. She's been doing very well lately though, so that helps. I'm also worried about one of the chins. She's been in breeding for two years and never littered and now she finally decides to get pregnant and is most likely due to deliver her first litter while we're gone, the little brat. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to coming home just as much as I'm looking forward to going. I'm sure I'll have a good time.

The video of Gavin is hilarious! He's doing a great job...you can tell he's close to getting it right. The cats sat up and took notice too!

Alison, feel free to give your pet sitter the url to the forums...I've done that before just in case advice is needed (especially for the chins).

I have been busy lately too. I'm still finishing up my courses so that I can start the formal part of my schooling in October. There have been a few hiccups and I'm a bit stressed. But everything will be okay!

Other than work and school, I really haven't spent much time doing anything else. I haven't been golfing as much, in fact, I haven't practiced in over two months. I bought a new driver on the weekend so I hope to try that soon.

I have been doing some shopping for the wedding. I've ordered and received the girls' shoes. I ordered my dress and we bought the boys' pants. We did pick the girls' dresses, they just aren't ordered yet. I'm getting really excited! Exactly 6 months from today is the wedding.

outbackchin will become famous soon enough
I love that Gavin video!

Things here are busy but going really well. Jillian is almost 5 months old already. At her 4 month appt she weighed in at 15lbs and was 25.5" long. That means she has gained 7lbs since birth and grown 4.5"!!!! I am hoping she starts to slow this growth down a bit. If you want to see pictures of her, Darren has been working on adding pictures to her website: www.fuzzychins.com/jillian.html

I started back to work part time in May so my weeks really seem to fly by now. Jillian is doing great at daycare 2 days a week and its been working out great for both of us...I get adult time two days a week and she gets to interact with kids.

We have been attending BBQ's and running around to different places almost every weekend. This weekend we have off but next weekend we are venturing to NY for the first time (probably will be about a 10-11 hour trip to upstate NY). I have a family reunion on Saturday and then we are going to long island to see Darrens family. HOpefully JIllian will travel well.
July is very busy but August will be a bit slower, atleast I hope.

chins are doing great and Darren is looking into getting a dog (Carlin Pinscher). Its going to be a fun house!
