| Yes I know how you feel I am the same , I got my first job in 2000 and two and a half years later I was done gardening and in and out of the hospital . I have various unlucky gifts myself and am retired way too early.
I have way too much time on my hands and have surrounded myself with pets and attempt silly little things that often go wrong or are a total waste of time. I have something in the fridge right now that I will most liklely end up throwing away.
I have considered in the past building kits but you are right about the little bits getting stuck to you . I once has a Supermarine Stranraer kit , but I got a friend to make it for me.
I have also made my own baked clay jostick holders in the past and painted them . Earlier than that I made prefab bird boxes out of old estate agent signs , prefab sections stuck together with Silicone sealent , Roof felt stitched on with cotton thread just for some interest and wax covered drawing pins. Only one still exists and I dont think it has ever seen a bird in residence since it was built back in 1999.
We all have our own talents borne out of boredom and excessive amounts of free time. |

| The bird box idea is a really good one, Dickie. That is the sort of thing that could be taught to children to do, it uses up old estate agent signs and it is creative too
My main passion is cruising, I love to travel, and cruising means I can go places and just relax and enjoy everything
I will be away from Friday to Tuesday on a shakedown cruise for a brand new ship, we are going from Dover to Amsterdam and back, should be alot of fun
I have cruises next year in the Far East and Panama and a Transatlantic in 2009 |

| Yes I managed to find a few pictures of one of the prefab bird boxes on my Moby phone . Now that you mention it it is using up and recycling obscure materials , the only thing that I was worried about at the time being any fumes that the silicone sealent released as it dried out ,also I did use dark green spay paint on the front of a couple.
I have some roof felt I can use up and there are some old estate agent boards laying about in old town , maybe I could make some more . The dimensions of my prefab boxes were based on the wooden ones I made while I was at the Enviromental task force at Scadbury park back in 1999.
It would be great if I made one and a great tit or Blue tit moved in > Personaly i think they wood prefer a more stable wooden one.

My mum and dad were going to go on a cruise a month or so back , but they were going on a real cruise and they had to cancel because she was ill , they have to go through all the insurance to get some money back because im sure they said it cost them nearly £4000 squid. |

| Making the bird boxes again would be a great idea, Dickie, especially seeing as recycling is such a big issue at the moment. Could be a potential earner for you
Cruising can be expensive. I travel alone and the single supplements are horendous on some of the cruise lines. Thankfully I have a very good agent who knows what I like to do and he always comes up trumps for me. June next year I will be away for 17 days cruising from Hong Kong to Philippines, Borneo, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam and back to Hong Kong, well under £2k inc flights from Manchester, so I definately cannot complain I am really looking forward to that one
For Christmas/New Year 2005/6 I was cruising Cape Horn from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires...absolutely amazing trip, loved every moment of it |

| Oh I am not looking to make money out of anything I make or create , I do it because I enjoy it , I could make £5 or £6 squid a time if I made those Limeseed bracelets more comercialy , but I have'nt made a prefab bird box in yonks. I made ten wooden ones when was working for blooming Borders , my second to last job Prefab bird box dated ( 1999 ) at Aunt Doreens , as to wether its still there I dont know , other people live there now. Another view of that Bird box
They were gif images on my phone so I had to convert them to Jpeg's in paint , seems they are only as big as my Moby phones screen which is a shame.
--------
The last major cruise my olds went on was the Boudicea around the Carribean , i think it was last feb sometime. ?
dunno. |

| The box looks great Dickie, looking at it, you would not know that it wasn't a wooden one. Nice one, Matey
I am on Boudicca in 2009 for the Transatlantic from Barbados to Southampton, she is sposed to be a really nice ship.
One of the other sites that I am involved with for Enrique is all about cruising... http://www.cruisingtalk.com/index.php |

| My olds have been on the Princess Danae too , that was some time back and I cant fill in the all of the cruises but I think they went on the Braemar too if thats what its' called.
Fred Olson cruises me thinks.
Yes I made several but the others are gone now and I dont know about this one , I could waste some time and make another but I have little access to large trees with strait trunks where I am.
I hung a wooden one up in a Lime tree last year , will have to check on that soon. |

| I have cruised with Olsen aboard Braemar three times now, lovely little ship
The ship this weekend is NCL's Norwegian Gem before she enters service, the Hong Kong cruise is aboard Costa Allegra, the Panama Canal cruise in November 2008 is aboard P&O Artemis, and then Olsen's Boudicca for the 2009 cruise |
