The China Study

Has anyone heard of or read this book. One of my very carnivorous friends read the book and is now almost completely vegan. He ordered the book for me and I have started reading a few chapters. There seems to be a lot of credible information in it. There are a few analogous stretches but all in all, the information is supported. I'm interested to see what is contained in the coming chapters.

It was really cheap on amazon.ca, I think under $20. How did you hear about it?

I have never heard of it, but went to the link and looked at the synopsis just now. I am always leary about studies as the researcher always seems to know how to skew the results to represent what they want it to. If it is a truly scientific study however the results make sense to me. Not so much because their diet is high protein, but maybe because animals are exposed to so many hormones, antibiotics and chemicals these days that it concentrates and moves up the food chain to us causing often unknown harm. (or maybe their diets consisted of wheat gluten and rice with melamine in it~ just a thought)

It's often mentioned on vegetarian and vegan messageboards.

Me too, Annie. There is a study out there to "prove" just about anything. I do intend on looking up the studies that are cited (on Pubmed or something similar) to read the full text articles.
